When exposed to water or moisture silver is likely to tarnish and will therefore start to darken so it is important to keep your sterling silver jewellery away from water and mositure.
Be sure to remove them before you shower or go for swimming. It's a good idea to remove sterling silver completely before cleaning or gardening.
If your sterling silver jewellery contains gemstones / semiprecious stones be mindful when cleaning them as chemicals can potentially cause damage to these.
Do not immerse in water or allow to soak. Just a gentle wipe with a soft cloth would clean it better.
Storing:
To avoid scratches store each piece separately. Stay away and keep away from chemicals when wearing, cleaning or storing silver.
Try avoid storing directly in plastic, wooden boxes. Wrap each piece of silver in acid-free tissue paper. Never wrap them in newspaper as the chemicals in the paper can damage your jewellery.
Store in a soft pouch, jewel box or airtight container.
Always store silver jewellery with a piece of regular chalk by placing one in the same box as your jewels to avoid tarnishing. Make sure your jewels are wrapped and not indirect contact with chalk.
Never clean silver with harsh abrasive products like chlorine bleach, lemon, vinegar, salt or fizzydrinks.
